How to configure Client Services message delivery and notification

To configure your Message Center preferences:

1. Log in to Client Portal

2. Click the User menu (head and shoulders icon in the top right corner) followed by Secure Message Center.

3. Click on the Preferences (gear) icon next to the Compose button.

4. The message Preferences window will appear

5. Select a Primary and Secondary Preferred Language for messages using the drop-downs

6. Select your preferred delivery options in the Secure Message Delivery section.

7. Click SAVE to save your changes.

Please note, for security reasons, it is not possible to receive the entire message via E-mail or SMS/Text Message. It is only possible to receive a summary of the notification via E-mail or SMS/Text Message.

Tax Treaty Benefits

Overview: 

Income payments (dividends and payment in lieu) from U.S. sources into your IB account may have U.S. tax withheld.  Generally, a 30% rate is applied to non-U.S. accounts.  Exemption from the withholding or a lower rate may apply if your home country has a tax treaty with the U.S.  Complete the applicable Form W-8 to find out your status.

How can I remove the yellow news arrows on a chart?

Overview: 

If you wish to remove the yellow arrows which denote news on your charts, follow the steps listed below:

From the Chart window, click the Edit menu option followed by Chart Parameters. Find the section titled "Highlight on chart".  If you have the yellow arrows, then the box titled "News" will have a check mark in it.  Click on the box to remove the check.  Once the check is removed and the box is empty, click the Apply button, and then click the OK button.  The yellow arrows should no longer appear.

Question # 3:      Are you a Legal Resident or Entity of another country?

If the answer is YES, complete Form W-8  (U.S. Citizens, Green Card Holders, and Entities still complete the W-9.)
